Nursery Here I Come
Today was Aubrey's first day in nursery. She was very excited to be going - we've talked it up quite a bit. Here she is on her way to church:
Yeah, she never took a nap. We were a little concerned about three things
1) She sure was tired
2) The kids in our nursery tend to pick on the little kids. Aubrey's pretty tough, but there is only one of her.
3) Grandma and Grandpa H are her nursery leaders. Originally it was just Grandma H, but they released her co-leader and since my dad was helping her out the Primary President decided to call him as well. We were a little afraid Aubrey might get clingy; which she usually is not that way.
Turns out Aubrey was perfect. She didn't cry at all (which we expected) and she didn't cling and didn't get beaten up. Granted there were only 6 kids in her class today, but that's great! She; however, did not listen when I told her not to dirty her diaper so she did come visit me once. We'll work on that.
Here is the cutie after church...
Can you tell she liked it?

For a Cause
My sister Christina has a friend who had a tragic accident happen to their little baby girl one year ago (October 29, 2008). Their precious daughter, Cici, had a choking accident which caused her permanent brain damage and the Fischer family changed forever. Now Jenny- the loving, optimistic, amazing mother of three, has also become fundraiser extraordinaire, insurance guru, and medicaid "expert." Their lives have been turned upside down and inside out, but their perseverance, love, and determination have continued strong.
In honor of their continued fight, my sister and I have teamed up in a fundraising event for the Fischers. Money raised will be donated to Cici's hyperbaric treatment fund (these are $200 a session, and in order to be effective they do large amounts of sessions in a short period of time- 60 sessions in 30 days- obviously, this is extremely expensive and insurance won't cover it at all. BUT- it is working, and Cici has greatly improved as a result of these treatments!).
From now until November 15th, you can order Mary Kay Cosmetics and Skin Care from my sister's website* at http://www.marykay.com/cmarriott and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the fund. Mary Kay continues to be an industry leader in the cosmetic and skin industry, with a plethora of new and exciting products just in time for the Christmas season. She can create gift baskets to fit any budget- FREE of charge! Also, shipping is FREE for any orders placed in the continental US. If you have any questions, simply contact her.
Also, any orders placed for Sandbox Creations- beautiful and fun gifts for girls- until December 15th will have profits donated to the Fischer family as well. If you have any special request, simply contact me and I will customize your order special to fit your needs! The site is still pretty basic, but I can design and do anything you would like. If you need headbands for the bows I can do that too.
There are a couple of ways to get involved:
1. Order gifts for yourself, family, or friends
2. Spread the word- we don't care who orders, we just want to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful and deserving family!!!
3. If you want to donate directly to the fund you can. Just go here and the link is on the right hand side of the page.
*If you already have a MK consultant, rather than ordering from me, please ask your current consultant to donate a portion of any orders you make from now until the 15th to this fund.

Trunk or Treat 2009
This year the trunk or treat happened to be on the same day as Halloween. And, this is the first time in 4 years that I didn't have to work on Halloween! We started off the day having Katie (finally) paint her pumpkin.
She got really into it and I think she'll want to paint EVERY day now. The rest of the day was good, just a relaxing day of getting things done.
This year we had decided that we would do a family themed costume this year, but we had a hard time figuring out just what to do. I wanted to do the Wizard of Oz, but we couldn't find a toto costume for Aubrey. We were going to have Katie be Little Bo Peep and Aubrey be a lost sheep, but then Damien and I wouldn't have costumes. We went to the Halloween store and Katie immediately snagged the costume that she wanted: Thomas the Tank Engine. We decided we'd look online for a cheaper costume (instead of $30). We found Thomas on Craigs List for $8.00; however, the engineer costumes that would fit Aubrey were $40. We thought Aubrey would be an engineer, Damien would be Sir Toppham Hatt, and I would be Lady Hatt. We had a hard time finding the costume parts, or didn't want to pay that kind of money. In the end we found much cuter, and cheaper, costumes.
Haha - Katie was Thomas the Tank Engine and we were her railroad crossing! $15.00 was a lot better than $100.
The girls had a lot of fun at the Trunk or Treat at our church. Katie kept doing the donut eating game and was even asked not to come back for fear that she would get sick after eating so many donuts. Katie's favorite game, though, was fishing (go figure)! Aubrey's favorite was the basketball game. She did keep trying to escape though and one time she ran into the primary room, climbed up the steps, and starting talking into the microphone. She may be a public speaker one day.
Then, off to the trunks. There were a lot of great trunk decorations, and a couple where you had to go through the spider webs to get your treats - way to make those kids work for their candy! At the end Katie needed a drink since she was so thirsty.
We made a stop by our neighbors so that they could see the girls and then headed home where we put the girls down for the night and we watched a movie with my parents, brother, his girlfriend, and my nephew. It was a great Halloween and I hope you all enjoyed the holiday as well.
