Going Private

Two weeks from today, on February 25th, 2011 I am going to make this blog private. There are a few reasons, and none of them have to do with any crazy stalker stories. However, if you want to know, here are the reasons.

  • My husband wants me to. He works in computer database development and knows and deals with programming so people don't hack into things so he's wary of having personal information online.
  • I have been cautious with not posting pictures of my house or neighborhood, blurring out pictures that may have personal info on it, saving pictures "for web" so people cannot "steal" them, not saying where or when we're on vacation, et cetera, but I'm ready to know exactly who is reading my blog and being okay with telling them beforehand where I'm going on vacation and what I'm doing in my personal life without filtering it much.
So, I understand that this means a lot less people will be reading my personal blog. I use Google Reader and since private blogs aren't included in their feeds I check the private blogs I follow 1-2 times a year. I know, sad. I hope you love me better than that, but I'm realistic as well. I also know that since it will be private I can no longer link it to my facebook account. Unless someone knows a way around that. If you do, please share because every one of my friends on facebook I know personally. Have met, talked to, and are important parts of my life.

I still want everyone who is following my blog to be able to do so. As long as I know you personally I am expecting a request from you. If I don;t know you personally and you follow my blog tell me who I should keep it public because at this point I'm just not sure. So, email me here and I'll add you to my list. This is not my real email address so only send this request to me there and don't add your email address to my comments here. If you want my real email address I can get that to you personally if you don't have it. It's safer that way. ;) Thanks.

My niece has it set up so she has a public blog, but as a post just puts a title and a link. Once you click on the link it goes to the private blog so you have to log in to actually see it. This allows the readers to see she has a new post. Does that make sense?

Like you, I do all my blog reading on Google reader, so this means I probably won't see your posts very often unless M points one out for me to come have a look at. I know I'm not a frequent commenter but I do enjoy reading your perspectives on things. I do understand your reasons and respect them.
